Developed at Augusta-related facilities, the GM Dominance was a specialized mobile suit based on the late-production GM. It served as a data-gathering platform to enhance the combat capabilities of the Earth Federation Forces’ GM series. The data collected from its operations contributed to the development of advanced models like the RGM-79SP GM Sniper II and fine-tuning of rollout units such as the RGM-79G GM Command.

True to its name, "Dominance," this mobile suit boasted superior performance compared to earlier GM models. Its versatile design also shared features with other high-performance mobile suits of the era, such as the RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom and the FA-78-1 Full Armor Gundam. As a limited-production unit, only a small number of GM Dominance mobile suits were manufactured during the One Year War.
