The arms are foldable, allowing the Altron Gundam to perform a variety of fighting tactics and stances. A gigantic claw-like weapon in the shape of a dragon’s head is attached to its forearms and folds forward when utilized.

The Altron Gundam was developed from the debris of the Shenlong Gundam, with Gundam scientists covertly upgrading the mobile suit with additional technology and armament at the OZ’s production facility on the moon. The Altron, like its predecessor, is a close combat unit, but its upgraded weaponry give it improved ranged warfare capabilities.

The Chinese term “ertou long” or “two-headed dragon” was the source of Altron’s title, although Shenlong possessed just one modified Dragon Fang. The original Beam Glaive was replaced by a double-ended Twin Beam Trident. To increase its firing range, a Twin Beam Cannon mounted on a movable tail was attached to its back. The shield worn by Shenlong was still attached to its left shoulder and was now called the Altron Shield.

Shenlong was built mostly for gravity operations, but Altron was built for space combat, with extra engines and two wing-shaped binders attached to its back to increase its mobility. Altron is equipped with twice as much firepower and fighting capability as its predecessor. Given Chang Wufei’s proficiency in martial arts combat, Altron is an extremely powerful mobile suit in close quarters fighting.
